Opportunity: Research Assistant in Speculative Play & Sustainability

Opportunity: Research Assistant in Speculative Play & Sustainability

1 March to 30 June 2022

The RCA’s Information Experience Design programme is looking for a researcher with experience in speculative design, pervasive games, LARPs or semi-serious games, and/or unconventional science or social science communication.

This is for a six-month project funded by the British Academy’s Shared Understandings of a Sustainable Future scheme. The project explores the potential of game-based collaboration and speculative design processes to inform policy discussions on sustainability.

Responsibilities of the Research Assistant will include collaborating on game design and production, capturing and managing data and project documentation within an ethical framework, supporting communication across the project and with stakeholders including experts and scientists across multiple fields, helping to disseminate project outcomes, and collaborating on research outputs.

The role will be active from 1 March 2022 to 30 June 2022, during which you will need to be available on site in person at various points, and consistently through June.

The expected volume of commitment will be 1 to 2 days per week, paid at a rate of £220/day. Please note, a more specific schedule of committed time will be discussed with shortlisted applicants during interview, as specific skill sets and applicant needs will be considered when scheduling.

To apply, please send a CV and a brief statement describing how your research experience and interests fit this project to d.barrios-oneill@rca.ac.uk by Tuesday, 15 February.
